Hobble Fire Update
WILLIAMS, Ariz. – Fire crews continue to monitor the Hobble Fire, 18 miles northeast of Williams. The fire has grown to 2,245 acres. It is primarily moving south and west of the Hobble Mountains on the Williams Ranger District.
The forecast shows a moist storm system remaining over Northern Arizona through the middle of the week. Gusty winds are likely with this weather pattern. So far, only light rain has fallen on the Hobble.
Some rain will slow fire activity; however, it will take considerable precipitation to extinguish the fire. The Hobble may continue to burn for several weeks. Officials remind the public if you are planning to camp or hunt in this area, please be aware of ongoing fire activity, your surroundings and the weather.
The fire is being managed for resource objectives within an established 45,000-acre boundary. Some of the objectives identified for the incident are reducing hazardous fuels, improving wildlife habitat and protecting cultural resources.
Personnel on the incident include two Kaibab engines, the Saguaro Wildland Fire Module, and operational personnel.
Game Management Unit 7W is within the Hobble Fire Management Area. All roads are open and accessible.
