Hobble Fire Update
WILLIAMS, Ariz. – The lightning-caused Hobble Fire, 18 miles northeast of Williams, has grown to 1,862 acres. Red Butte Lookout reported that smoke settled overnight in Valle and on portions of State Highway 64 and lifted early this morning.
The National Weather Service has predicted an increase in moisture and possible rain showers for this weekend. Managers are prepared for potential irregular winds from localized thunder cells over the fire area.
Fire managers have identified specific locations, called management action points, where they will slow or redirect fire spread to continue to meet the resource objectives set for the incident. The fire is approaching the Ivie management action point located southwest of the fire. When the fire reaches this management action point, crews will take measures to prevent fire spread on to private property.
Resources assigned to the incident include engines from the Tonto and Coconino National Forests, the Saguaro Wildland Fire Module, a helicopter, and operational personnel.
Game Management Unit 7W is within the Hobble Fire Management Area. All roads are open and accessible. Please use caution traveling or camping in this area.
