Tentative prescribed fire plans for the week of October 5

Flagstaff, AZ – Pending favorable conditions, fire managers are planning prescribed fires in the following projects for the week of October 5.  

For Monday, October 5, Peaks and Mormon Lake Districts:
Only one of the three following projects will ignite on Monday. Fire specialists will base their decision on wind and weather conditions:
Kachina Project         300 acres        Southwest of Flagstaff near Oak Creek Vista and Hwy 89A.
Light smoke likely in Kelly Canyon, Pumphouse Wash and Kachina Village.
Lake Mary Project        650 acres        Southeast of Flagstaff near Lake Mary Meadows and Lake Mary
Road. Smoke will linger along Lower Lake Mary.
Anderson Mesa Project 1000 acres        Southeast of Flagstaff, south of Ashurst Lake. Smoke impacts in Mormon and Padre Canyons.
                                       
For Monday, October 5, Mogollon Rim District:
Blue Ridge Urban Interface Project    600 acres        Near Mogollon Rim Ranger Station/Blue Ridge,
                                        Hwy 87. Smoke impacts along Highway 87.

Projects later next week:
Kachina                300 acres        Southwest of Flagstaff and Kachina Village.
Lake Mary                600 acres        Southeast of Flagstaff near Lower Lake Mary.
Anderson Mesa        1000 acres        Southeast of Flagstaff.
Woody Ridge                600 acres        Southwest of Flagstaff, south of Rogers Lake.
Fort Valley         300 acres        Northwest of Flagstaff, off of Snowbowl Road and FR 522.
Eastside                 200 acres         North of Flagstaff, off of Little Elden Springs Rd/FR 556.
Blue Ridge UI                600 acres        Near Mogollon Rim Ranger Station/Blue Ridge.
East Clear Creek        500 acres        Along Mogollon Rim near Knoll Lake.

All prescribed fire activity is dependent on personnel availability, weather – including ventilation conditions, and approval from the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ).
