Prescribed and managed fire update
Coconino National Forest fire managers did not ignite on any prescribed fire project yesterday and today.
Peaks and Mormon Lake Districts - No burning is planned through this week.
Mogollon Rim District – Crews plan to ignite up to 600 acres Thursday on the Blue Ridge Urban Interface Project near the Mogollon Rim Ranger Station/Blue Ridge office on Highway 87.
The area will probably see smoky conditions lingering through Friday.
Bow Fire - The lightning-caused Bow fire near Happy Jack is just about wrapped up. An additional 300 acres burned over this past weekend, bringing the total to 2900 acres treated for forest resource benefits. The Verde Valley experienced some smoke impacts over the weekend, with better smoke dispersal yesterday. Fire personnel continue to patrol the area. The immediate area of the fire is closed for public safety, though perimeter roads are still open (Forest Roads 81, 81E, 9264L.)
All prescribed fire activity is dependent on personnel availability, weather – including ventilation conditions, and approval from the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ).
