TRN4: Newsgroup selector: "/" & need for "#"-cmd (from thread-selector)

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

Try this within any newsgroup:

  /foo

           (which marks say 20 threads)

  E
reducing choices to just those with "foo" in subj.

-------------------------- FIRST, TRY CHOOSING A *THREAD*:

Choose ONE of the *threads* to look at.
QUESTION: how to look at only *that* thread, ie
without having to slog through the 10 or
so that are listed above it?
ANSWER: Move the cursor down to that thread, and
            then hit "#".

PRESTO! You are now reading *that* thread.

-------------------------- NOW, TRY CHOOSING A *NEWSGROUP*:

Same problem as above, but with *newsgroups* instead
of newsgroups (or articles). ie, DO:

Try this within the newsgroup-SELECTOR:

  /unix

           (which marks say 20 *newsgroups*)

  E
reducing choices to just those newsgroups with "foo" in name.

Choose ONE of the *newsgroups* to look at.

QUESTION: how to look at only *that* newsgroup, ie
without having to slog through the 10 or
so that are listed above it?
ANSWER: Move the cursor down to that newsgroup, and
            then hit "#".

PRESTO! You are now reading *that* newsgroup.
WRONG!!!!! trn barf's on that key -- it's undefined.

So, seems like there's NO (good?) WAY to choose that
    one group --

other than by tediously, "by hand", UNmarking the ones
you do NOT want to read at this instant.

PROBLEM WITH THAT: now, NO group is "marked", so to look
another group concerned with unix, you have to AGAIN
do "/unix", choose the one to look at second, UNMARK
   the others, and hit <return>.

------------------------------

PLEASE: make "+", in the newsgroup-selector, work like
it (the "+") does in the THREAD-selector.

THANK YOU!

David
