I (think I) understand what you're saying, just not how to do it..

Could you show an example of how to put multiple entries into the same group?
(Possibly with the previously given example, to further clarify the
difference..)

Is this the ^N, ^P that I see in the help menu for the selector?

I use the rn-style selector nowadays.. (Just because it avoids one level of
picking things from a menu.)

i.e. the
======  59 unread articles in rec.arts.int-fiction -- read now? [+ynq]

mode..
