Legal setup fees vary per province.  You need to register for federal GST
(that's sort of like European VAT, except when it isn't) processing
purposes once you start doing around $10000CAD/year of business.
Probably has to be fronted by a Canadian citizen, and I'm not willing to
take on that responsibility.

However, it seems more logical for TDE to set up legal housekeeping
in an EU country, since that's where the few devs whose locations I can
figure out from their email addresses seem to live.

I personally have no objection to donations going directly to Slávek for
a time (actually, I'd have no great problem even if he absconded with
them—he's certainly put in enough work on TDE!), but we do need to
work this out eventually, and an interim solution might be used as an
excuse for more foot dragging.  We don't need that.
