So definitely it is doable under linux, but it is not clear how much effort it would be for TDE. AFAIK it works via tokens that are feed back to the authorization approval to the calling application. It is not only M$ using this. Have a look here: https://oauth.net/2/ Pay attention to "authorization" and not "authentication".
