Thank Paul and really sorry for the bother
actually the problem was with sendmail
I found out that sendmail was listening only to 127.0.0.1 and not to other
address.

actually this happened nearly the time when i had upgraded SQ mail so i
was jus trying to focus on any settings which might have changed in
squirrelmail config

actually i found using netstat -nl that sendmail was lsitening only on
loopback and further check on sendmail.mc file revelead the below
note the missing #
actually i had the same file running for almost over a year but maybe when
i added RBL feature accidently the hash may have been removed

dnl DAEMON_OPTIONS(`Port=smtp,Addr=127.0.0.1, Name=MTA')dnl

after commenting the above option and generating sendmail.cf everything
worked perfect

but jus wondering since now sendmail listens to any ip address am i
comprosmising on security
i do have relay-domains file permitting acces for only our local networks

since most users use squirrel mail and after in conf.pl i changed the
sendmail settings to sendmail instaead of smtp everything worked
but some outlook users were complaining its very slow to send mail

anywaway im sorry for bothering you guys
and really apprecite your reply n advice

regards

simon
