You don't say what your IMAP server is, but most should properly
support UIDs.  You should always leave that setting turned on if your
server supports it.  If users get the original error, you need to
determine the exact steps to reproduce the error and proceed from
there.  Try disabling all plugins and see if that resolves the error.
