However, if the PHP function "posix_getuid" is not available,
SquirelMail defaults to calling the user "httpd", even if it's not.
It could be a wild goose chase.  The OP has yet to respond to my
suggestion to check the permissions on all directories leading up to
the data/attach dirs.  Why is that I wonder?

Not in all cases per my note above.
