If you do not have SquirrelMail configured for SMTP AUTH then enable it: conf.pl > Server Settings > SMTP Settings > SMTP Authentication > login OR config.php > $smtp_auth_mech = 'login'; If that does not correct the issue then it needs to be resolved at the mail server. Adjust your hMailServer configuration or seek help at the forums if you cannot resolve it yourself.
