This seems to be where SquirrelMail is installed. Make a backup and put
your new installation here.

SquirrelMail configuration is normally not placed here, but in your case
it seems to be. Make a backup and make sure that your new installation
stores its configuration here as well. My guess is that
"/usr/local/squirrelmail/www/config/" is a symbolic link to
"/etc/squirrelmail/", but if you did it some other way - do it like that
again for your new installation.

Those aren't related to SquirrelMail, so you shouldn't have to.

>>> # ls /home
>>> user1   user2   user3   user3   user4   ftp     etc.

Not SquirrelMail.

>>> # ls /home/user1/
>>> Maildir

Not SquirrelMail.

>>> # ls /home/user1/Maildir/
>>> courierimapkeywords  courierimapsubscribed  courierimapuiddb  cur
>>> new tmp

Not SquirrelMail.

>>> # ls /home/ftp/
>>> welcome.msg

Not SquirrelMail.

>>> # find / -name squirrelmail -type d
>>> /usr/local/squirrelmail
>>> /var/local/squirrelmail
>>> /etc/squirrelmail
>>>
>>> # ls /usr/local/squirrelmail/
>>> data  temp  www

>>> class COPYING help INSTALL README UPGRADE
>>> config data images locale ReleaseNotes

Make a backup.

>>> # ls /var/local/squirrelmail/
>>> attach  data
>>>
>>> attach is empty directory
>>>
>>> data directory containing users' .abook .pref

Make a backup.

>>> # ls /etc/squirrelmail/
>>> apache.conf         config_local.php  default_pref       index.php
>>> config_default.php  config.php        filters_setup.php
>>> sqspell_config.php

Make a backup.

After configuring your new SquirrelMail installation I suggest you do a
side by side comparison of the old and the new configuration. There
shouldn't be too many differences between the two if you want your new
installation to behave the same way your old one did.

Sincerely,
Fredrik
