Well, you need to explain what kind of authentication it uses and how
you have tried to configure SM to authenticate when sending.  Show
what is in the mail log when such failure occurs.  FYI, SM should
support all the same SMTP authentication methods for sending read
confirmations that are supported for sending normal mails
(config/conf.pl --> 2 --> b)
