Errors when upgrading...

Hi all

I'm running a Mac OS 10.3.9 server which is running SquirrelMail
version 1.4.4. I'm trying to install the latest and greatest version
of SquirrelMail but I'm getting the error below. I looked at the
permissions on the old version of SquirrelMail and copied them
exactly, but I continue to get the error. Obviously I'm having a
permissions error, but I can't figure out how to fix it. I am not an
expert with terminal, but I know enough to be dangerous:

 >Error opening ../data/default_pref
 >Could not create initial preference file!
 >/var/local/squirrelmail/data/ should be writable by user www
 >Please contact your system administrator and report this error.

Thanks,
Bryan
