If you think that 1.5.1 is faster than 1.4.x on courier, check your sm 1.4.x server side sorting settings. SquirrelMail 1.5.x has improved imap functions, but I think performance improvements are not that visible on servers with SORT extension. SquirrelMail 1.5.1 has known issues in some php versions.
