I am running Squirrelmail 1.2.7 on FreeBSD 4.5, Apache1.3.26, PHP 4.2.2. The system has worked flawlessly for several years and we don't like to mess with things that are working... I have noticed from time to time that I will get an email which shows a date (when viewing the email) of December 31, 1969. What is odd is that the header for the email does not show the 1969 date and Squirrelmail slots/sorts the email properly in the Inbox by time received (i.e. most recent first). The same email in Thunderbird will show the same 1969 date but slot at the bottom of an Inbox (like it really was received on December 31, 1969. Outlook 2003 shows the email properly without the 1969 date. The emails tend to come from systems which have an embedded emailer - storage arrays, applications, etc My question is this: Is this a Squirrelmail issue in that SM is looking at the header and not seeing something so it renders out the 1969 date? Is it a PHP issue which is not seeing the date properly somehow and SM just reports what it receives from PHP to the user? Is it neither one of these items and something in the application sending the email itself (not an RFC proper header or something)? I have never seen this issue come in on a regular email sent from one person to another, just from automated systems sending email.
