You described a situation where, from what I could best tell (this is why posts with more detailed server information are necessary), your IMAP server logins were of various formats. If that is the case, it makes it a LOT more difficult to set up ancilliary software like this to give you *consistent* functionality across a *inconsistent* configuration/setup.
