Maybe does Microsoft Windows Update Server accelerate Update better than Squid?

Hello,

one more question regarding downloads (updates and patches) for the 
operating system windows XP/Vista/7/8:

Would it be much faster if I use WSUS to distribute Updates within a 
LAN than to use Squid Proxy which maybe is not allowed to cache the 
download by the microsoft website?

I was wondering if anyone can give me a hint.
