I'm having a problem with squid failing when i try to enable an ecap
service. if i have:

ecap_enable on

in squid.conf, everything works fine. if i have:

ecap_enable on
loadable_modules /usr/local/lib/ecap_adapter_modifying.so
ecap_service eRespmod respmod_precache 0
ecap://e-cap.org/ecap/services/sample/modifying
adaptation_service_set respFilter eRespmod
adaptation_access respFilter allow all

Squid starts correctly, but in syslog i see:

Jul 31 16:05:52 squid squid[4503]: Squid Parent: child process 4511 started
Jul 31 16:05:53 squid squid[4503]: Squid Parent: child process 4511
exited due to signal 6 with status 0
Jul 31 16:05:56 squid squid[4503]: Squid Parent: child process 4514 started
Jul 31 16:05:56 squid squid[4503]: Squid Parent: child process 4514
exited due to signal 6 with status 0
Jul 31 16:05:59 squid squid[4503]: Squid Parent: child process 4517 started
Jul 31 16:06:00 squid squid[4503]: Squid Parent: child process 4517
exited due to signal 6 with status 0
Jul 31 16:06:00 squid squid[4503]: Exiting due to repeated, frequent failures

tailing cache.log gives me nothing - there's no errors logged there.

Any ideas? I'm not sure if its a bug or if i have something
configured incorrectly.

Squid Cache: Version 3.1.0.12
configure options: '--prefix=/usr' '--enable-ssl' '--disable-ipv6'
'--localstatedir=/var' '--libexecdir=/lib/squid' '--srcdir=.'
'--datadir=/share/squid' '--sysconfdir=/etc/squid' '--enable-ecap'
'--enable-icap-client' --with-squid=/usr/local/squid/squid-3.1.0.12
--enable-ltdl-convenience

Thanks,
Nick

Check cache.log produced by the dying child to see _why_ its dying.
