Squid will use UDP/IP instead of UNIX sockets for talking to the pinger if you build it with --enable-icmp. The use of UNIX (aka AF_LOCAL) sockets is more of a convenience thing than functionality, mainly relevant for FreeBSD jail setups. > What I will lose, if at all I do? > Finally is it all documented somewhere?
