Try this:

grab Squid-2.HEAD from http://www.squid-cache.org/Versions/v2/HEAD/

install a somewhat recent Linux version

Configure Squid with a reasonably cache_mem, a null cache_dir and
reasonably sized maximum_object_size_in_memory settings for your
content.

Example:

cache_mem 128 MB
cache_dir null /null
maximum_object_size_in_memory 1 MB
