This only happens if I build the qla2xxx driver and it's firmware
into the kernel image.

If I build qla2xxx modular and let the initrd provide the firmware,
it works perfectly fine.

I haven't tested with initrd because I don't like rootdelay parameter, but if I have no choice to obtain a running 2.9.30 to test my i2c_bbc patch... ;-)

I'll try to figure out what's wrong.
