rpm -E '%_transaction_color'
cat /etc/rpm/platform

What has changed on the system? It's very unlikely to just stop working

What happens if you do rpm -Uvh glibc-2.3.4-2.19.{ppc,ppc64}.rpm rather
than -ivh
