Ah yes, tar payloads in released rpm-4.4.4. I was feeling feisty that
day.
This will get the bits you need to build rpm-4.4.4 out of the srpm:
rpm2cpio rpm-4.4.4-1.src.rpm | cpio -dim
There are versions with Good Old cpio payloads for CentOS3 and
CentOS4 there.
Prolly best candidate is
http://wraptastic.org/pub/x86_64-CentOS3-linux/SRPMS/
rpm-4.4.4-1.src.rpm
