RPM for AIX 4.3.3

Hi,

Did anyone sucessfully make RPM work on AIX 4.3.3 ?

I followed the installation procedure at
ftp://ftp.software.ibm.com/aix/freeSoftware/aixtoolbox/README.aix433 :
- Downloaded RPM tool package from
ftp://ftp.software.ibm.com/aix/freeSoftware/aixtoolbox/INSTALLP/ppc/rpm.rte.
3.0.5.36 (latest version for AIX 4.3.3).
- Installed RPM tool package : installp -qaXgd rpm.rte rpm.rte
- Tested RPM command with "rpm -qa", which successfully displays "RPM"
package

But whenever I try to install any RPM package for Aix 4.3.3 listed in
ftp://ftp.software.ibm.com/aix/freeSoftware/aixtoolbox/data/433.finallist, I
get an error message about "failed dependencies" on "libc.a(shr.o)".

It seems that all AIX 4.3.3 RPM packages have a dependency on
"libc.a(shr.o)", which is probably a RPM virtual "capability" that should be
in the initial "bootstraped" RPM database, but is not.

As if the RPM database initial build process was incomplete. It adds some
virtual dependencies like "/bin/sh" and other such things but it misses
"libc.a".

I'm looking for a way to add this virtual "capability" in the RPM database.
Maybe I missed something obvious ?
Any idea ?

Thanks.
