To clarify, I currently have this in my spec file: %files /home/my_user/template_dir/etc/file1.conf /home/my_user/template_dir/usr/local/bin/some_file /home/my_user/template_dir/usr/local/doc/some_file.txt what I want is something like: %files %magic_directive_to_tell_rpm_to_chop_off /home/my_user/template_dir/ /home/my_user/template_dir/etc/file1.conf /home/my_user/template_dir/usr/local/bin/some_file /home/my_user/template_dir/usr/local/doc/some_file.txt I searched through the maximum rpm book but could not find anything. I know I could make a relocatable rpm but I don't think that is really what I want (or the proper use of relocatable rpm's).
