Description of problem: The kernel 2.4.18 not load sound module.

I am using a [ALi] M5451 PCI AC-Link Controller Audio sound
on board Acer TravelMate 630 (LapTop) motherboard.
My redhat 8 distribution is working just fine in every respect except
for the sound device.
Actually the setup program recognizes the sound device but I can't hear
the test. message.

Please help me with an useful information.
Thanx
