[Sound] I can't hear music CD under RH8.0 with SiS7012 audio

Hello,

I'm having problems with my audio card or sound configuration under RH8.0:

A music CD is recognized by KsCD and XMMS just in my DVD Driver (the CD-RW 
Driver doesn't recognize it). Anyway, putting it in my DVD driver it seems
to 
run on display, but no sound comes. However, I'm able to play and hear mp3
files!!
(for example via xmms with mp3 support)

first at all, here my kernel details:

2.4.18-18.8.0 #1 Thu Nov 14 00:10:29 EST 2002 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux

(I upgraded the kernel hoping to solve the problem in the 2.4.18-14 Kernel,
but not)

dmesg gives me the following regarding the sound card:

i810: SiS 7012 found at IO 0xe400 and 0xe000, IRQ 5
i810_audio: Audio Controller supports 6 channels.
i810_audio: Defaulting to base 2 channel mode.
i810_audio: AC'97 codec 0 supports AMAP, total channels = 2
----

My modules.conf file has the following lines:

Using sndconfig I can hear the testsound, and module.conf remains with the

configuration.

please help!! I have no idea anymore. I even changed under KDE Control
Center
both the number of mixers and probed devices per mixers to 1 and I've got
just 
1 modprobe error in /var/log, but I still can't hear CDs.
