Hi, Reading through this article (comparing 2.4 vs 2.6 kernel performance) http://www/2cpu.com/articles/93_3.html I tried out benchmarking my laptop and my "little" server laptop Dell d600+1.4Ghz Centrino+512MB Ram RH9 + 2.6.3 Kernel Apache 2.0.40 30Gb 4200 rpm IDE ATA100 Server gateway PII300Mhz 512MB Ram RH8 + 2.4.20 kernel Apache 2.0.40 200GB 7200 rpm IDE ATA33 running ab -n 1000 -c 1000 http://localhost/index.html I get Requests per seconds laptop : 53.47 #/sec server : 50.09 #/sec Isn't this _slow_??? I mean, look at the numbers and the difference in specs between the server and my laptop! In the article, the writer uses a 2x3.2GHz Xeon and gets up to 4730 requests/sec!! Can anyone tell me if I'm benchmarking it wrongly or something else is happening?? Cheers, .^.
