correct me if im wrong, but redhat doesnt come with any mp3 enabled
player. i think its some legal thing. you need to get the mp3 plugin for
xmms, or whatever mp3 player you want to use.

for mpeg i think you should get mplayer, because i dont think i was able
to play any mpeg video on a normal redhat install.

(i think) kde has nothing really to do with it. ie: xmms just needs X
and some libraries, no kde needed.

ps all the above might be totally wrong :)
