dns forwarding and sendmail

Hi,
Just need to be pointed in the right direction. I am running a network at home, cable modem, then router, then hubs and pc's. I have one pc set up as a web server running rh9 and apache (works great). I also wanted to set up a mail server using sendmail. Is this possible without running dns and using a dns forwarding service? If it is, (and I'm pretty sure it is) what is the best source to find out how to set it up. (I have read some of the man pages for sendmail, it made my head hurt!) :)

Thanks for any pointers..

Scott Brown....
