Ok that is if you do a fair comparison (eg weaken EXT3 to give less protection of your data to a level that is comparable to reiserfs and JFS). By default EXT3 provides more data protection than the others, which has a measurable overhead if you put high load on the filesystem (esp a load that creates lots and lots of small new files)
