Won't changing the console resolution make more rows and columns and
possibly break some console applications?

I other words, would mutt, and other console apps have trouble
formatting mail designed for 80x25?  It would be like running mutt or
emacs in a terminal then making the window full screen - ugly, to say the
least!  Perhaps mutt is smarter than this and can get the screen
resolution, idonno, but what about other fullscreen console apps you
use that are designed for 80x25?
