The question now becomes, did you install java and if/when you did, did
you also update your PATH environment variable to include the path?

FWIW, I installed Sun's java via their RPM.  The java binary is located
in /usr/java/j2re1.4.2_01/bin/.

My $PATH (which needs to be cleaned up...  :-) ) shows....

[egreshko@misty sbin]$ echo $PATH
/usr/kerberos/bin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/bin:/bin:/usr/X11R6/bin:
/sbin:/usr/sbin:.:/usr/sbin/mhs:/usr/java/j2re1.4.2_01/bin:
/usr/local/Acrobat5/bin:/usr/local/kde/bin:/usr/bin:/home/egreshko/bin:
/sbin:/usr/sbin:.:/usr/sbin/mhs:/usr/java/j2re1.4.2_01/bin:
/usr/local/Acrobat5/bin:/usr/local/kde/bin:/usr/bin
