Sun Download Manager sdm.sh File Won't Run

I downloaded the Sun Download Manager just prior to my planned download 
of j2re-1_4_2_02-linux-i586-rpm.bin (it is large and I am at 28k dialup 
here at home).

I downloaded and unzipped SDM.  The instructions say to run sdm.sh but 
BASH in either User or Root responds: "-bash: sdm.sh: command not found"

help?  Thanks! doc
