NIS ok... but what is kerberos?

(dumb question sorry)
so if i will implement 'NIS' in our network, am i implementing
'Kerberos' too?

kerberos is a distributed authentication system, NIS is just a distributed authentication database. There is a not-so-subtle disctinction. If you don't know about kerberos, you probably don't need it. There's a little bit about it in the RH docs and there's almost certainly a Kerberos book published by O'Reilly. You need to do some more research to decide whether you want to deploy kerberos.
