HI, I'm trying to install Redhat 9 on a machine that only has a SAN attached disk. Unfortunately it seems to fail. The SAN controller is a Qlogic 'QLA2312' card and the disk resides on an IBM Shark ESS. After booting from floppy and loading the drvblock disk, the qla2200.o and qla2300.o drivers are loaded and it seems a disk is found. The messages on console 4 show something like: LIP reset occured LOOP UP detected QLogic QLA 2312 pci ..... Firmware version: 3.01.13 Driver version 6.01.00-fo and about the disk: sda: IBM Model 2105F20 rev: .144 It detects the proper size of the disk (e.g. 10G) and issues the message: sda: unknown partition type So apparantly the SAN disk is recognized. However the installation process still says no valid device for installation is found and asks for other driver disks! I tried to build the latest qlogic driver (6.06) but failed to create a proper module for the install-kernel. Any hints? Regards, -Marcel -- ======-------- Marcel J.E.
