If you have to, why not just buy a license from Fhg, or whoever owns mp3. Mp3 plugins are very easy to get, in a legal way for some of us too. Freshrpms has lame and xmms-mp3 and all the mp3 playing stuff you want. It will take 10 minutes of your time. Or you could buy a distributors license, and make your own Fedora isos with mp3 included. There is a business opportunity. I think you will discover, like Redhat did, that not too many people want to pay for Linux just yet. So making people pay is out of the question.
