If > you truely think that is why companies plunk down big bucks for RHEL you > do not understand the problem or the market. ---- fair enough - I simplified my reasoning and indeed, there is value in longer releases and evidently, the RHEL sales are occurring primarily on preloads by Dell/Compaq/IBM etc. In my case, I have about 20 customers with a Linux box running some form of RHL as a server and I have had to deal with updates. First the up2date seemed to be a g-dsend and now that I started to work through my customer base to get them to sign up, the ball is getting dropped. Obviously there are greater minds than mine thinking about these things and we will have to see how it all plays out as some of this is speculation. I certainly don't begrudge Red Hat their decisions to assure their responsibility to their market and thus, their profitability. I only have to evaluate what is best for me and my customers. I will go silent on this topic now and see what ultimately plays out - obviously there are other options.
