su works as long as you run the connect program.  /usr/bin/up2date is a
link to consolehelper, /usr/sbin/up2date is the real program.  Unless you
run 'su -' to get root's path then /usr/bin comes before /usr/sbin (and
sbin isn't in the path by default, IIRC).
