It is ipp capable. Hooked to port 1,2,3 in tests.

The printer is working and can print successessfully from an XP
machine, using the URI http://192.168.0.12/lp1

ok, how about trying the same url from cups?

I hadn't felt it necessary to post the fact that I had tried that obvious conclusion. It doesn't work from linux box.

i would bet that cups is easily able to print to this print server, so you are making
a small obvious mistake somewhere.

Do you have a guess as to the proper URL to insert in cups config or not?

ipp://192.168.0.12/ipp/lp1 OR ipp://192.168.0.12/lp1
