Hi Andrew,

take a look on the output-plugin setting under setting ->
Audio-I/O-Plugins.
Fresh installed XMMS showed the same pathology on my system as long as
the output plugin was set to disc-writer plugin and worked fine with
eSound-output-plugin.

I hope, this one helps you,

Yesterday I downloaded and installed the xmms 1.2.8 rpms. Now when I try to play an mp3 file, I get no sound and the slider seems to be running at about 5x speed, though inconsistently. I tried an mp3 that worked wonderfully with xmms 1.2.7, so I don't think the problem is with the mp3 file. What have I done and how do I fix it?

Thanks!
