I am ashamed to admit I cannot resolve this without help. In a previous install of Red Hat 9, I was able to configure the message time and date so it was displayed in actual time rather than 'yesterday' or 'today.' I had to re-install RH 9, and now I cannot remember how I changed that display feature. The 'help' file was not helpful. Can someone please point me to the solution? Did I furnish enough info?
