Adding the line:

PAMAuthenticationViaKbdInt yes

to the file /etc/ssh/sshd_config means that my test user that only
exists in LDAP can now connect using ssh.

I'll need to do some more reading as I'm not completely sure what this
option does, or what it means about the PasswordAuthentication option.
