Does an easy way exist to install a video player on RH 9 that will play *.wmv files? I went to install mplayer and found it needed quite a list of dpendencies. Would installing xine be any easier? I tried rebuilding the rpms and ran into a bunch more dependencies: [admin@xxx SRPMS]$ rpmbuild --rebuild xine-0.9.21-fr1.src.rpm Installing xine-0.9.21-fr1.src.rpm warning: user dude does not exist - using root warning: group dude does not exist - using root warning: user dude does not exist - using root warning: group dude does not exist - using root error: Failed build dependencies: xine-lib-devel >= 1.0.0 is needed by xine-0.9.21-fr1 aalib-devel is needed by xine-0.9.21-fr1 lirc is needed by xine-0.9.21-fr1 [admin@xxx SRPMS]$ rpmbuild --rebuild xine-lib-1.0.0-fr0.beta12.1.src.rpm Installing xine-lib-1.0.0-fr0.beta12.1.src.rpm warning: user dude does not exist - using root warning: group dude does not exist - using root warning: user dude does not exist - using root warning: group dude does not exist - using root error: Failed build dependencies: alsa-lib-devel is needed by xine-lib-1.0.0-fr0.beta12.1 aalib-devel is needed by xine-lib-1.0.0-fr0.beta12.1 libfame-devel is needed by xine-lib-1.0.0-fr0.beta12.1 flac-devel is needed by xine-lib-1.0.0-fr0.beta12.1 arts-devel is needed by xine-lib-1.0.0-fr0.beta12.1 xvidcore-devel is needed by xine-lib-1.0.0-fr0.beta12.1 Why isn't xine or mplayer in the RH 9 distro? I tried checking rawhide, but got the too many connections errors. -- Shrike-list mailing list Shrike-list@xxxxxxxxxx https://www.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/shrike-list
