It's the one thing I haven't tried yet ... However, I do know that the gimp's printing subsystem addresses different problems to the normal print subsystem and you may well have more luck going down that route.
I've done most of my Linux photo printing out of gimp; I'm fairly certain that the fine-tuning tutorial I came across was gimp based too. Ah well. I'll have another rummage of the W/E.
I'll be d/l'ing a custom CUPS/gimp-print RPM set over the W/E and re-building it myself, so maybe that'll fare better.
