Sorry to drop in this late, I haven't been reading e-mails for a while. If 
your only interested in tuxracer with sound, you might have luck with an rpm 
I (re)built:

http://folk.uio.no/oeysteio/RPM9/tuxracer-0.61-20.i386.rpm
http://folk.uio.no/oeysteio/RPM9/tuxracer-0.61-20.src.rpm

It works pretty good on my laptop (Compaq Evo N1000v).
