I asked this exact same question on the KDE lists the other day and the answer 
is "Yes"! Find the instructions at 
http://kmail.kde.org/kmail-pgpmime-howto.html

I followed them and now I get most digital signatures verified. Note that you 
must configure a server in the ~/.gnupg/pgp.conf file.
