Yes I did mean 9 - sorry I had been using 7.2 previously and just couldn't let go of the 2 :-) As for the JVM, I assumed there was one as the java and javac commands were supported. java -version reports itself to be 'java version 1.3.1'. Perhaps somebody doctored the CDs before I received them in an effort to make my life easier. And thanks for the information on IBM's JVM - it is nice to know it isn't something I am doing wrong. -----Original Message----- From: William Hooper [mailto:whooper@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Thursday, June 12, 2003 2:42 PM To: shrike-list@xxxxxxxxxx Subject: Re: RH9.2 and MySQL and Java Mike Kenny - CPX Mngd Services said: > Recently installed RH9.2 and was disappointed to discover that it is > shipped > with a 1.3.1 JVM [snip] Red Hat 9 (you did mean 9 since this is the shrike list, right) doesn't come with a JVM. Especially not a JVM that is documented in the release notes to not be compatible: https://www.redhat.com/docs/manuals/linux/RHL-9-Manual/release-notes/x86/ "Applications that are known to have problems using NPTL include: - Sun JRE prior to version 1.4.1 - IBM JRE" -- William Hooper -- Shrike-list mailing list Shrike-list@xxxxxxxxxx https://www.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/shrike-list
